Scanners
AutoData Systems no longer sells scanners. The truth is that you can find one elsewhere at a lower cost than we can purchase wholesale. Online retailers like Amazon and CDW have completely changed the way we do business in this country. In the long run, our customers are better served by a large selection at affordable prices.
The good news is that there are only two requirements for a scanner to be compatible with AutoData Systems’ software. The first is an automatic document feeder (ADF), and the second is a TWAIN driver compatible with your version of Microsoft Windows.
An automatic document feeder allows you to scan multiple pages at once. The number of pages generally varies with the price of the scanner. A low-cost scanner may hold up to twenty pages whereas a large production scanner may hold one hundred pages or more. The size that is right for you will depend upon the number of forms that you need to scan at once.
TWAIN Drivers are supplied by the scanner manufacturer and are installed separately from a CD or downloaded from the manufacturer’s website. Most manufacturers provide regular updates on their website as operating systems are changed and updated. Before purchasing a scanner, be sure there is a TWAIN driver available for your particular operating system. Please note: Not all scanners support 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows. Most newer scanners do. Just be sure to check first.
We have had good results with Panasonic, Fujitsu, and Brother scanners. Give us a call if you have any questions about a particular scanner. We would be happy to assist you.
